How to engage TTS
The TTS provides rapid access to specialist engineering expertise and resources in the electrification and decarbonisation field. Whether you need early technical validation, support progressing a technology toward deployment or assistance overcoming a critical engineering barrier, our team can help.
Engagement pathways
1 - 3 hour free technical workshop.
-
A focused 1-3 hour free workshop designed to explore technical challenges, provide technical guidance, identify risks and define potential pathways forward.
1 - 5 free days of technical support.
-
Rapid free access to specialist engineering expertise for 1-5 days under a TTS Initial Services Agreement. Here, our experts can:
Solve a targeted technical challenge
Conduct an independent technology review
Validate technical concepts and assumptions
Identify future technical risks and development challenges
Recommend practical next steps for your project
Co-funded project.
-
For larger projects, the TTS can explore opportunities to leverage TRaCE and other funding programs where there is strong technical and strategic alignment for all parties. Our involvement in other funding programs will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that most grants require a cash contribution from the industry partner.
Paid support.
-
Flexible engineering support for organisations seeking deeper technical engagement, from targeted problem-solving through to larger technology development projects. This pathway type commences after the agreement is signed and initial payment is received.
How We Work
We support startups, SMEs, industry, and established organisations across all stages of technology development, from early validation through to deployment and commercialisation.
Our streamlined engagement process ensures technical challenges are assessed quickly, where organisations can access the most appropriate support pathway with minimal administrative burden.
Frequently asked questions
We’ve listed some common questions. If your question isn’t covered, please reach out to our team at contactTTS@unsw.edu.au
-
TTS supports startups, SMEs, scale-ups, and established organisations working on technologies related to electrification and decarbonisation.
-
TTS can assist with technical validation, system design, modelling and simulation, performance assessment, testing, optimisation and other complex electrical engineering challenges.
-
Following an initial consultation, the TTS team will assess your requirements and determine an appropriate pathway for support.
This process typically takes less than a week.
-
Yes. In our experience, spreading the five days across a longer period allows optimal use of resources.
-
TTS provides independent technical engineering support to help organisations overcome engineering challenges and accelerate technology development. Our role is focused exclusively on technical advice, analysis, design, modelling, testing, and engineering problem-solving.
We do not provide commercial, investment, or business advisory services, and to maintain our independence and impartiality, TTS does not endorse or advocate for individual technologies or companies. As such, we are unable to provide letters of recommendation or participate directly in investment pitches or funding applications to venture capital firms or grant agencies (with the exception of TRaCE funding programs, where TTS is an established delivery partner). This ensures we can continue to provide objective, evidence-based engineering support to all organisations we work with.
-
Projects sometimes require multiple technical disciplines. We have access to a large community of experts and will quickly determine if we are able to deliver on your project.
-
We take a client-focused approach to intellectual property, recognising that IP is often one of the most valuable assets for start-ups and SMEs.
For most projects, clients retain ownership of their existing and project-generated IP in accordance with our engagement agreements. We also maintain robust processes for the secure storage and management of confidential information, ensuring that project IP is accessible only to the TTS team members directly involved in delivering the work. This allows clients to collaborate with confidence, knowing their intellectual property is protected throughout the engagement.
-
We will ask you to complete a short 10-minute survey at the end of the engagement. Your feedback helps us improve our services and measure the impact of the support we provide.
-
We are eager to continue collaborating with you on extended projects. There are various engagement strategies and funding opportunities available through initiatives like the Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) to support this.
Join the TTS Expert Network
The Technology Translation Squad offers career pathways for non-PhD and PhD electrical engineers, along with potential part-time options. This opens opportunities for industry experts interested in Technology Translation work without leaving their current roles.
